No matter who you are, what size, or shape you are, there is an activity or exercise for you.  As you begin your new lifestyle, there's no need to rush straight to the gym and do every class.  Remember the first rule : Know yourself and set realistic,  achievable goals.  One of the easiest exercises to start with, is of course, walking.  Provided you don't have any serious health problems, that prevent you doing so...walk, walk, walk.  First, get a good pair of trainers, that give your arch and ankle, good support.  Depending on your goals, you can start by just walking around you local park and build up to longer distances (always carry water).  You can walk up stairs and escalators, instead of using the lift.  If you travel to work, by public transport, give yourself a little longer and walk to the next bus stop,  then the next...until you see your bus arriving.  If you travel by train, do the same...walk to the next station to get your train (as long as it's feasible!). The point is, you can do it any time and it's free. Eventually, you will pick up pace and work up a sweat, as you power walk.  Sometimes, the little things done consistently, can make a huge difference.
