The term 'Beauty Sleep' , refers to the small window of our sleep time, where the release of growth hormones takes place. It is called 'beauty sleep' due to the fact that this is the peak time, when we do not dream, but the body uses this time to do its primary 'work' e.g. replenish, repair and cleanse itself. In children, this hormone, stimulates growth and in adults, it helps maintain muscle and connective tissue. Hormones released during this time, also regulate important body processes, from regulating your metabolism, to regulating your blood sugar levels. Needless to say, sleep deprivation, can therefore lead to body process disruption and subsequently, a host of illnesses and disorders.
So make sure you get your 'beauty sleep' regularly.
